QUIKSILVER BACKYARD BURNOUT: GALLERY AND RESULTS
40 of South Africa’s best skaters were invited to skate the inaugural Quiksillver Backyard Burnout on Friday night, 4 November. Over 15 competitors from Jo’burg, Cape Town and Jeffrey’s Bay made the trip to Durban to take part in the event and take on the 25 invited Durbanites.
The venue was a mini ramp in Glenwood, Durban. 6 jam sessions decided two semi finals and a 6 man final. It was Yann Horowitz, winner of the 2009 Quiksilver Bowlriders, who was a clear stand out from the early rounds who took down the event to claim the R10 000 first place prize money.

Will Twala won himself R1 000 for best trick which the good people from Skullcandy doubled to R2 000 on the night. Nice one Will.
Thalente Biyela from the Durban beachfront park put on a fine performance to claim R3 000 and the runner-up position.
Chris Da Cana, also from Durban, hung on to 3rd place and R2 000
Yann Horowitz claimed the title as well as the tidy winner’s cheque.
All three also won themselves a set of Skullcandy headphones for there efforts. Stoked. Thanks to Luke Patterson for the photos. Look out for the Quiksilver Backyard Burnout next year.
