VERB “MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE” SERIES
on March 28, 2012
MUSIC SAVED MY LIFE (MSML) is a project started by Verb as a way of connecting creative people who are excited about making their art and supporting a good cause at the same time. It makes sense that a brand like Verb would be inspired by music; the innate and shared passion that is found so strongly in so many people – not just musicians. Verb is, after all, about creativity, with skateboarding as a metaphor for that.
The MSML series pairs up (mostly local) talent – musicians, artists, designers and illustrators, to create a limited edition series of skateboards, t-shirts and tote-bags. A portion of the money raised from the sale of the products will be donated to the Sign Language Education and Development (SLED); the idea being, as Verb explain, “We can now use the music that we love so much to aid those who aren’t able to hear it.”
The MSML collaboration features the following:
Die Antwoord – Ninja
Fokofpolisiekar – Louis Minnaar
Zebra & Giraffe – Alice Edy
The King Blues – Wes van Eeden
Fuzigish – Merwe Marchand Le Roux
The Verb x Music Saved My Life series launches nationwide at TOFFIE POP 2012, 30 March – 1 April.

WES VAN EEDEN BLOG – LOCALS ONLY
on March 15, 2012
Here is a new limited edition print I did for the LOCALS ONLY poster exhibition. A massive shout out and thanks to the crew for inviting me to be apart of the show: Christian Mugnai, Tyron Bradley and Louis de Villiers.
My print is all about being trapped in Durban without a passport and fully inked. I don’t like tattoos and I think if I got one I would probably regret it in years to come. This is a metaphor on how I feel about growing up in Durban and how all the memories of them will never leave me. If you interested in getting a print make sure to check them out at the shows as they not available online yet.
Durban Harbour – R350 / limited edition of 30.

WESLEY VAN EEDEN BLOG
on January 18, 2012
This weekend I got to show my work at Word of Art in Cape Town. Its running until 18 January if you still want to check it out. I really had a great time hanging out with my brother and Senyol! I got an amazing response from my work and about 700 people attended the exhibition and music event. It was pretty mind blowing for some one like me coming from a small city. Cape Town has got to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

I got to meet some of the people who brought some of my work. This is Jason from New York who is a professor in English.
This is Rowan who brought two of my paintings with his girl and Indigo from Canada. Rowan is a really talented filmaker who has just come back from America filming Freshly Ground on tour.

PASTE. A STREET ART EXHIBITION VIDEO
on October 13, 2011
18 local artists were selected to design, illustrate or photograph work around the theme of Khayelitsha Culture. Curated by SJ Artists and local design website, 10and5, the work was turned into large scale wheat pastes and was pasted around Khayelitsha and the inner city of Cape Town.
The aim was to take the exhibition out of the gallery space and into the streets of both city and township. Spreading the art into the different cultures and allowing the greater community access. We think thats pretty freaking rad.
